Another High Point Market has come and gone, and as always, we like to analyze the trends that are shaping the interior design industry. From earthy neutrals to bold jewel tones, Market showcased what is trending and how color plays a big role in redefining our spaces. Curious to see if our predictions have come to fruition? Check out our blog from earlier this year here!
1. Greens
Greens continue to dominate, but this year we are seeing the colors shift to more bold tones. We are seeing colors like rich emeralds, bright chartreuses, and energetic lime greens more and more which reflects the growing influence of Maximalism. Maximalist interiors often showcase daring color combinations and mixing of bold patterns. At the same time, soft, subdued greens of all shades remain as a staple, with green being a connection to Biophilic Design. One of the mail goals of Biophilic Design is to create interiors that connect to nature and evoke a calming atmosphere.

2. Earthy Neutrals and Warm Undertones
There is continuing to be a BIG emphasis on warm undertones… away from the gray! Even brands known to have a gray look to their furniture pieces have come out with collections featuring warmer wood tones and colors. This is another color trend that can be tied back to Biophilic Design, as the “earthy” tones like terracotta, ochre, warm taupes, and sandy off-whites, give off a calming feel and help a space feel more grounded and connected to nature.

3. Soft Pastels mixed with Bold Accents
Since this is Spring Market, the color palette tends to be a little “sweeter” to mimic the blooming season. A big trend this year was the use of pastels paired with more vibrant pops of color. Examples of this include powder blue with bright red and lilac with bold yellow. This type of color combination works beautifully in traditional and coastal inspired interiors – think of the trending styles of Grand-Millennial and Modern Traditional/ Coastal. The juxtaposition between the light pastels and saturated hues adds depth and drama, which ties back to the Maximalist aesthetic.

What do you think of these color trends? We anticipate seeing them continue at Fall Market, but with a more subdued tone. The earthy and warm hues will remain a staple, and we imagine darker tones like deep browns, reds, and ambers will be added into the mix.
