Now that it is 2025, we can see the direction interior design is heading. We love researching upcoming trends to keep our designs fresh while remaining classic. Unlike the fast-paced fashion industry, furniture and interior trends are usually more gradual. Of course, we see changes year to year and even season to season, but not nearly as drastic as, let’s say, clothing or tech. Let’s get into our 2025 furniture trend predictions for this year. If you read our 2024 trends blog, you’ll definitely see similarities as trends are continuing to develop and evolve.
1. Warmth
Warmth is a key theme for 2025. This means warm, moody lighting, warm wood tones, and warm color palettes (we will touch more on the color trends in our next blog post… stay tuned!). Expect to see warm toned woods – not the orangey floors of the 90’s-00’s; rather warm undertones. Whether dark or light, wood pieces are moving away from the gray tones. While cool tones like grays, silvers, and chromes still have a place in contemporary and modern interiors, traditional and transitional styles are embracing the warm browns, creamy whites, golds, brasses, and maybe even copper in 2025.

Warmth is not just about color; it’s also about creating cozy, inviting spaces which leads us to our next point… layering.
2. Layering
We are going to see more and more “layered” spaces. We love a curated look, which is achieved by layering a variety of furniture, textures, patterns, and accessories. This means mixing large and small items, various patterns, and different textures. Layering adds interest and comfort to a space giving a lived-in look while remaining stylish.
Lighting is another aspect of layering that is essential for both function and aesthetics. Using different types of lighting—ambient, task, accent, and feature lighting—together enhances the ambiance. We’ve listed the types of lighting below.
Ambient: This is your standard overhead lighting such as recessed fixtures. Needed for function, these provide the overall glow to the space. Ambient fixtures can also be sconces, pendants, chandeliers, etc… whichever is the primary source of light in a space.
Task: Task lights are very important as they are meant to help with certain activities, like reading, cooking, and working at a desk. The light in this category is more focused – think of table lamps, floor lamps, pendant lights over the kitchen island
Accent: Think picture lighting, track lighting and table lamps. Lights that are used to emphasize a focal point.
Feature: This is not technically a lighting type, but these are your statement chandeliers and pendants which are not highlighting a focal point… they are the focal point!
Combining these lighting types creates a versatile and inviting atmosphere, allowing you to adjust the lighting to suit different activities and moods.
3. Curved Furniture & Forms
Curved forms continue to be a popular choice for both upholstery and case goods. We’re seeing pieces with curved backs and subtle rolled arms that add a touch of elegance. Scalloped edges on tables and accent items are also trending. For us, the most exciting items we are seeing are wood furniture pieces. Curved forms out of wood really show off the craftsmanship of the piece. Curves are not only elegant but also comfortable, which is why they remain a top choice.

4. Biophilic Design Influences
This is a trend we have seen rise particularly during the pandemic, as people sought to reconnect with nature while spending more time indoors. This is especially prominent in commercial design, but we see elements in residential as well. The idea behind biophilic design is to integrate natural elements to interiors. Many homes are now designed to maximize natural light and show off the views of nature. Indoor-outdoor spaces are also very prominent. We also see the use of natural textures and eco-friendly materials like linen, reclaimed wood, and recycled materials. Furniture vendors themselves are becoming more conscious of their environmental footprint, focusing on using recycled materials, and certified FSC wood in their products. Nature-inspired patterns and colors, such as leaf motifs and florals, are also popular, adding a touch of the outdoors to interior spaces.
