District Wharf: A Diner’s Delight
We are back at the Wharf in Washington, DC for a second installation of waterfront exploration, and this time we are tackling the food! Washington D.C. has become known as quite the foodie town hosting a unique combination of timeless classics and new takes on a wide array of cuisines, and the District Wharf is no exception to the city’s culinary caliber. With 29 restaurants, and more scheduled to arrive with Phase II of the project, whatever you are craving they have an option for you, from fast casual dining, like Shake Shack, to bustling dockside bars, and culinary masterpieces. Here are some of our favorites.
- Del Mar de Fabio Trabocchi
Del Mar is just the newest edition to the long line of success for owners Fabio and Maria Trabocchi, a dynamic couple who are taking the DC restaurant scene by storm. Del Mar is their fifth installation in Trabocchi Restaurants which includes the famous Fiola Mare. Del Mar pays tribute to traditional flavors found along the Spanish coastline of the Mediterranean with a rustic menu that boasts a raw bar, whole roasted fish, and both traditional and modernized tapas for all to enjoy.
Requin, meaning Shark in French, is the ideal name for latest addition to the Mike Isabella Concepts family. As the name indicates, the menu offers modern interpretations of classic French flavors with an emphasis on pulling from its waterfront location for inspiration. Requin is open for lunch and dinner daily along with brunch on the weekends as well as full bar crafting the perfect cocktail to compliment your meal as you dine with spectacular views of the water.
3. Mi Vida
Roberto Santibañez, culinary ambassador for Latin American cuisine at the Culinary Institute of America, has brought his success from the Big Apple to the Nation’s capital with Mi Vida. Meaning “My Life” in Spanish, Santibañez utilizes artfully crafted dishes and bold decor to tell a story, bringing guests along for a trip of culinary and visual delight. Mi Vida’s menu pulls flavors from Santibañez’s home cooked kitchen as well as traditional Mexican street food in elevated style. From an intimate dinner for two to large scale private dinning, their diverse space and menu guarantees to please all guests whether they are in the mood for traditional taco or fresh ceviche, or maybe everything in between with their family style serving the whole table!
With picturesque waterfront views and numerous top tier restaurants, the District Wharf is a must visit. Can’t wait to see you there!
