Devil Wears Prada Takes the Broadway Stage
BIG NEWS on the Broadway Stage Front
With a whole new season of Broadway shows approaching, people cannot help but talk about the announcement of the “Devil Wears Prada” musical. Based on the 2006 film by the same name, the music will be written by Elton John and the script by famous playwright Paul Rudnick, and is prospected to open at an indeterminate time in the 2018 season. With the big name of Kevin McCollum as producer, (Hand to God, Something Rotten), the show will undoubtedly bring in the masses.
For fashion and interior design lovers, like me, this is HUGE and exciting news. Devil Wears Prada is one of my favorite movies. I lived this sort of life (well, of Anne Hathaway) for about a year when I was younger, so it makes sense that it would be a favorite.
Although the show will go on without the stars who made the film, specifically Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, and Anne Hathaway, the famed rock-star and composer of “The Lion King,” “Aida” and “Billy Elliot” writing the music should make up for it. Elton John has won several Tony awards for his work on all three shows he has been a part of, one of which has yet to leave the Broadway stage.
Under Elton John, stars such as John Hickok and Sherie Renee Scott launched their explosive careers, so the undetermined cast of The Devil Wears Prada is sure to impress the Broadway theater community.
