Romance Around the Table at Hillwood Estate Museum
We were delighted to attend Romance Around the Table at the Hillwood Estate Museum on Valentine’s Day. This annual event includes some of the Design Industry’s biggest names. Charlotte Moss, Barry Dixon, Timothy Corrigan, Alex Papachristidis, P. Gaye Tapp, Hutton Wilkinson and Josh Hildreth. Each designer created a table, using Marjorie Merriweather-Post’s china

As you can see each designer had a very different way of interpreting the items from Post’s collection of European, Imperial Russian, and Chinese Export tablewares.
“The idea was twofold,” explains Lynn Rossotti, director of communications for Hillwood, which now operates as a museum to showcase Post’s extravagant collections and singular lifestyle. “One, Marjorie was such a phenomenal entertainer. She’d have dinners on this incredible Russian porcelain. So we’re inspired by that incredible entertaining and want to celebrate it. And then on the other side, we wanted to ask, ‘How can you use those in a contemporary, fresh way?’ We loved each of the unique tablescapes the designers imagined with the legendary heiress and hostess’s precious collection.
