Winter Blues

Blue is a favorite around the MWI offices. From the palest aqua to the deepest navy, blue is calming yet impactful. We love it as a neutral, we love it as a statement, and yes, we love it as an accent too. Here is a collection of blue rooms that we find especially inspiring.

This light-filled space perfectly blends textures and tones. Though there are many patterns layered in a small area, the consistency in the shades chosen don’t overwhelm the eye.

“Framing” a door or window in a bold hue creates an architectural effect. We love the blend of traditional and modern and the contrast of light and dark shown in this space.

This kitchen is the perfect example of blue as a neutral. Blending it with Carrera marble and a few white upper cabinets keeps the space from becoming oppressive.

Accenting this amazing staircase in a rich royal transforms it into a sculpture within this home. We’re kinda obsessed…

Teal tones are equally beautiful and play perfectly with modern and mid-century designs. We adore these plump chairs and the curvilinear lines of the upholstered wall.

Blue is perfect in the bedroom. This grey-blue paint is so soothing and pairing it with warm elements like the blonde wood and creamy textiles keeps it from becoming cold or dreary.

Blue and white toile sets the stage in this beautiful guestroom by Margery Wedderburn Interiors

And when it is cloudy outside, having a blue-sky space within your home really can elevate your mood. There are so many shades of blue to love, and we can’t think of a single one we wouldn’t use.

Have a wonderful week!
